Introduction to Water
A young co-worker came to me and said, “I need to talk.” As we walked along the San Antonio River Walk, she told me, “I don’t need you to talk me out of this. I just need to tell you I’m going to kill myself.” We talked not about death or solving problems but about water and how it restores us. When we climbed the stairs to our office, she said, “I’ve changed my mind.” Everywhere religious and secular rituals center on water as a connection to healing and wellbeing. Poets, artists and architects feel water’s tug toward mystery and meaning such that it finds its way into our works.
